The short answer is No!
Ai is an amazing tool to build content, images, plans and even programming scripts. But will it kill the content writer. As I said, the short answer is no. Maybe in the short run just to fill a page, but not in the long wrong for SEO merit.
I have been creating content for over 10 year now. In the form of video, photo and editorial content. I have always been happy with my content. For the the simple reason that it took me days if not weeks to figure out what would rank, what is not already out there, and what would get people to read my content for more than 2 minutes. As you can tell I am heavily involved in SEO and content marketing.
Recently in the past few month I have gotten a bit lazy. I’ve been working on several sites after the covid layoffs, and I am trying everything to make up for lost time. Last month I built 3 websites one for a weight loss supplement, another for my plushie company and another for a friend’s workout website.
Being that I am a person with many talents and feel that I could do anything. I decided to make my life a lot easier. I decided to use Ai to generate content for myself and my team. The main reason is that I was to busy trying to build the websites, the ux/ui, the email marketing, the paid ad strategy and all of that, to have to worry about creating content for it. To be honest with you editorial and video content was my bread and butter. But I had had enough with it because it took up soo much of my time.
When I found AI content writing, I thought great. I could just enter a prompt and have the AI create the content in less than 20 seconds, tweak it and make it my own. But Alas, I got lazy and just threw out whatever Ai generated content that I got. Hey it sounded good. After doing this for maybe 10 to 15 times I realized that my pages were not ranking as fast as they should be. I was like what the hell.
I started to do research on AI content creation. I immediately ran to my old friend google and asked the question: “Does Ai generated content rank?” The answer was a resounding NO!
I began to look at my numbers through google search console and google AdSense. I had been turned down by google AdSense for one of my sites and as you know google will cancel you in a hot New York minute without letting you really know why. on search console it was just because I had a bad redirect error. Fixed it because I’m a G!. On google adsense, the issue was a little more vague, I thought that if I fixed the redirect error in search console I would be cool. But it is still taking a while. But if you look closely as to how google gives you a pass for google AdSense this may make more sense.
And this can easily happen. Say for example if there are like 30 cryptocurrency sites that all have websites. And they want to write an article about the importance of bitcoins or where bitcoin will be in the next 5 years. If they go to like a Chatopenai.com they will all get the same answers. Google looks down on this as it is not original content. So they will get nowhere in the search engines.
I use to think that google was our enemy, but now I realize that google is really trying to halp generate original content. It helps them and us, well mostly them. Because they don’t have to really do anything except regulate.
As a digital marketer never extenguish the value of a good human content marketing creator. Choose people on a regular if you want your content to stand out, be original and rank.
